OUR CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY OF NICK RUIZ
Sept. 23, 1964 – April 24, 2022
Our precious Nick was born September 23, 1964, in Bakersfield, California and went home to be with the Lord April 24, 2022.
Nick and his siblings were inseparable growing up and their love for one another continued until the day he gained his wings.
He attended Jefferson elementary school, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from East Bakersfield High school in 1982. He then attended Bakersfield College where he received his Associate Degree in Business.
Nick was an accomplished man and excelled in whatever he applied himself to; ultimately, this led him to acquiring San Joaquin Paint and Glass Co. in Delano.
Nick first became a father in 1989 to Brittney and then again in 1991 to Chelsey. In 2000 Nick met his wife and life partner, Edith. He welcomed her sons, Oscar and Ulyses as his own. In 2005, their family was blessed with the birth of his youngest son, Nickolas. In addition to the children that they already had, Nick and Edith took in Jorge Elizondo, who they considered their son. Family was everything to Nick and he loved them deeply.
As a young man, Nick was involved in missionary outreach programs. He went on a mission trip to Mexico where he worked with orphaned children teaching them about Jesus. Nick’s compassion and generosity was unmatched. He loved helping people and loved donating to worthy causes.
Each year he sponsored students from high schools in Delano, West High School, and East High School. He provided them with books, college tuition, college scholarships, and donated paint for the school’s proms, floats, and various events. Nick was involved with the Rotary for many years. He also enjoyed sponsoring Japanese exchange students and helping at the Olson Rotary Village. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge. Nick served as Exalted Ruler for the Delano Elks in 2002-2003. He remained an active and involved member until his final days. Nick was also an extremely active member of the West High booster club for his son Nickolas. He found joy and
pride cooking for the football team, the band, and their fundraisers, setting up for events, and anything else that was asked of him.
Nick’s generosity and community involvement didn’t stop with his sole interest. He was involved in his children’s interests too; whether it was sponsoring his kid’s sport teams, taking on the role of team parent, helping with fundraising for different clubs, or being the President of the West High Band Booster Club. Nick was also a very supportive and proud father of his son Ulyses’ military service in the United States Marines. On many occasions there was a houseful of marines decorating Veteran’s Day parade floats or just bonding because ALL were welcome at Nick’s.
Nick was the successful business owner of San Joaquin Paint & Glass in Delano, California from September of 1996 until present. Though he lived in Bakersfield his entire life, he loved his Delano community.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Enrique (Henry)and Hope Ruiz, Cecil Lee and Grandma Tillie, and other family members.
